Substance Abuse Counselor In Training (sac-It) Licensure

SAC-IT Requirement Summary
- Individuals are eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Valid Identification
- Proof of attendence and completion of a valid SAC-IT 100 Hour Precertification Course
- Provide evidence of current employment, a written offer of employment, internship or equivalent (supervised volunteer) at an agency providing substance use disorder treatment. Your employeer must have a supervisor with the following credentials: ICS, LPC actively employeed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, LCSW actively employeed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, LMFT actively employed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, Licensed Psychologist actively employed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, Physician actively employed and working as a clinical supervisor.
- Complete all applications and DSPS requirements to obtain your SAC-IT license. This license is renewed 2/28/ODD Year for a maximum of 2 times from the original issuence date. Supervised work experience must be completed within the timeframe of the original certification plus 2 (two) renewals. So, if you finish your education 11/2022 your first renewal will be 2/28/2023. Your last renewal will be 2/28/2025 giving you 4 years and 4 months to finish your credentialing and licensure to SAC / CSAC.

- Successfully complete required examination
SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR (sac) Licensure

SAC Requirement Summary
- Individuals are eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Valid Identification.
- Doen not require an accredited associates degree (AA) or higher.
- Proof of attendence and completion of a 360 Hours of specialized education in an approved certification course.
- You have 2 options to get to this point. You can participate in a WI DSPS approved 100 hour pre-certification course and then later do the remaining hours to reach 360 hours or Do the 360 hour course outright. Most facilities that offer the 100 hour precertification course will either not offer the remaining 260 hours or make you repeat the 100 hours again and pay full price for the 360 hour course. This is why ASAP Educatoin designed its Courses to be synergistic and consecutive. You can start with the 100 hour course and take the 260 hour bridging course later or go start to finish with it. If you are in the perdicament of having completed your 100 hour precertification course elsewhere you may join our 260 hour bridging course to complete your requirement.
- Complete all applications and DSPS requirements to obtain your SAC license.
- Pay DSPS's application fees
- Successfully complete required examinations
- Successful review of application by DSPS allows elective testing for the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADC) examination.
- Submit 3,000 hours of work experience completed in the previous 5 years of the application submital date. Your employeer must have a supervisor with the following credentials: ICS, LPC actively employeed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, LCSW actively employeed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, LMFT actively employed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, Licensed Psychologist actively employed and working as a substance abuse clinical supervisor, Physician actively employed and working as a clinical supervisor.
CLincal SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR (csac) Licensure

CSAC Requirement Summary
- Individuals are eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Valid Identification
- Accredited University or College associates degree (AA) degree or higer.
- Proof of attendence and completion of 360 Hours of specialized education in an approved certification course.
- You have 2 options to get to this point. You can participate in a WI DSPS approved 100 hour pre-certification course and then later do our 260 hour bridging course for the remaining hours to reach 360 hours. Or complete our 360 hour comprehensive course outright.
